Even though I’ve only been in Barcelona for 10 months, the city already feels like home. Every time I step off a plane from wherever I’ve been playing, I feel comfortable because I’m on home soil. It’s a perfect city for cycling; big wide streets, some with cycle lanes, and lots of space. I can make it from one end of the city to the other in 30 minutes. Barcelona is like the smallest big city. It’s amazing how many new things you can discover just taking a different route to where you are usually going. There’s so many beautiful streets, squares, parks, etc. packed in such a relatively small area.
When I don’t feel like cycling, the metro is a great alternative. It’s so clean and efficient. It’s never been late any time I’ve used it. There’s such a good mix of people here in Barcelona, it’s very easy to meet people and make friends…
Being Irish, I spend a lot of time in bars, and my favorite one here is called Bar 32, on Carrer Ample. It’s usually the place where things take a turn for the worse and you end up stumbling home in the early hours of the morning with an empty pocket, a half eaten kebab and very little memory of the night. Great.

Just perfect for cycling...
