The Gran Teatre del Liceu, located on Las Ramblas, was once the most important opera house in Spain.

Built in 1847 by private shareholders, the Liceu was organized in a similar way to a trading company or ‘societat’.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu’s artistic and management project has firmly established itself in Barcelona. The institution is now tackling the challenge of taking its artistic activity to audiences further afield.
