Barcelona’s botanical garden is set on the northern slope of the Montjuïc hill. The site stretches over an area of 15 hectares, and includes a large amphitheater facing southwest. Within the complex, plants of the five Mediterranean climate regions are arranged in accordance with their geographic characteristics and are grouped according to ecological similarities.
The garden employs a triangular grid as its basic structure, and the organization interrelates the mosaics (plants) with the walkways (sections) in respect to the plants’ natural requirements.
