There is a mathematical equation for every shape found in nature. In architecture, the parallel is more vivid and obvious. Think TRON. Think the Death Star. Think about the angular, stark structure and skin of the Media Pro tower.

This system of steel and glass provides its own unique sequence of eye catching geometries from without, and open, broad views from within. Situated along the Diagonal, the building is constructed such that it turns its “head”, a movement that in connection with the adjacent tower atrium and overhang over the square shapes the site’s front and side elevations. The knitting together of these two geometries creates an engaging view of the TMB building.

Organize your mental graph paper and trace the lines of this intriguing construct.Quote_transparent

Barcelona 22@ Too Far, Too Fast?

Tracing the Diagonal in its descent towards the sea, we come across the Campus Audiovisual: a set of buildings dedicated to the audiovisual realm, rehabilitating old factories to facilitate new industry. Of all the new buildings in this area, the Mediapro tower—designed by architect Carlos Ferrater—is the most elegant. The project includes two slender towers of different heights, placed perpendicular to the Avenida Diagonal and connected to one another by a transparent tunnel. On the Avenida Diagonal, these two towers provide a continuation of striking architecture from their surroundings, and offer a fluid access of street activity to the bustle of the lobby and public cafeteria to the offices above.
